Prompt for username and password on Ethernet Connection RRS feed

  • In our environment, we want to implement a new policy, the policy is as follows:

    when any user connecting to the network, the OS is should be joined to domain, IF the device is not joined to domain then they must be prompted for AD user name and password.

    the system is already in place but how to configure the prompting for username and password in windows devices.

    we are talking about wired connections not wireless...

  • Hi,

    802.1X can be used in wired scenarios also. It is configured in pretty much the same manner as wireless. For a machine that is not joined to domain, you cannot require a specific authentication mode. Users will have to be advised to set their 802.1X config according to your standards.
