How can I edit alerts from several users in one step? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since our users are not managing their alerts I have to change alerts for several hundred users (e.g. change delivery from weekly to daily). How can I avoid that I have to change each alert for each individual user? Even third-party solutions like Bamboo Alerts Administrator do not offer this feature.

One solution is just delete all alerts and set-up new alerts for all users. But every time I do this users would get an email that a new alert was set up. Is there a way to avoid sending out these information emails?

  • Which SharePoint product are you asking about?

(and - as you have posted a lot of questions in short succession - were all your posts about the same SP product?)

  • Hi,

If you want to manage alerts for multiple users at a time.

Have a look at this product:

    http://advancedalert.codeplex.com/

I hope this will help you out.

    thanks,

If you suggest a product you must say whether you work for the company who wrote the product or for a company that sells it (or has any other relationship with the maker).

If you don't have any such relationship SAY SO in your post ("I have no relationship with the makers of this product")

What is the case here ?     (and, yes, I know it is codeplex, but the rules remain - if you were one of the team that wrote it you would be biased in suggesting it so we need to know)

  • Mike, I checked the problem with WSS 3.0, MOSS 2007. Neither of these versions offer a solution.
    • Edited by Mike Walsh FIN Tuesday, July 19, 2011 4:17 PM SP 2010 removed. WSS2003 doesn't exist (presume you mean WSS 3.0) 2007 added to MOSS.

  • Thanks Rahul, unfortunately this program does not solve the problem. It only provides the option to add all users of a group at the time of the alert setup. But we add or remove almost every day to/from groups and we would like to manage their alerts.

  • Hi,

Then you can create a group for this purpose.

You can add that group by this functionality and if you want to add remove users for alerts.

You can carry out the same at this group itself and it will work for everyone.

I hope this will help you out.

    Thanks,

This forum is not for SP 2010. If you ask here you are asking only about WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007 or earlier SP products.

I've therefore removed SP 2010 from your post.

If you want to ask about this problem in connection with SP 2010, post to a SP 2010 forum.
