  • Hi Folks

    Can anyone explain me the Boot process of Vista ??? ...

  • The jest of the boot process is as follows:

    1.) Windows Boot Manager starts the Windows Boot loader
    2.) The Windows Boot Loader loads NTOSKRNL.exe, HAL.dll, the SYSTEM registry hive, Services, and enables paging
    3.) The Kernel loading phase begins in conjuction with the Windows Boot Loader.
    4.) After all boot and stratup data is loaded, the kernel starts the Session Manager
    5.) After which the Windows subsystem starts Winlogon.exe

    Now there are tons of things that happen inbetween. I recommend pages1244 - 1254 in the Microsoft Vista Resourse Kit book.
