Run as administrator How to? RRS feed

  • Question

  • In supporting Windows it is often necessary to install or modify a devices, or run an application with elevated privlidges. For example a client update an Asus computer and needs to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the touch pad. Works fine in the administrator account but the user accounts are not using the right drive.

When logged on as the end user in Windows 10, how can I launch device manager with administrator privileges. Right click holding the shift key doesn't seem work. I had tried the command line Runas but the password doesn't appear to have a variable assigned as it ignores what is being typed.

  • Hi Graig, Do the following, Winkey+x, will bring up the X menu, select control panel, right click device manager, select run as Administrator.

    Hope it helps
