DPM 2010 Causes Exchange 2010 To Stop Processing Mail RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm running a trial of DPM 2010 and a licensed version of Exchange 2010 SP1.  DPM is set to a 30 minute syncronization schedule.

The problem I am having is that the Exchange server stops processing mail at approximately 12:00am every day if the DPM agent is installed. Once I remove the DPM agent, the problem goes away. The only way to get mail processing again is to restart the Exchange services. There are no errors in either machine's application logs.

We had the same issue with Exchange 2003 running on WinSvr 2003, except that in the case of 2003, the whole machine would become unresponsive and require a hard reset.

All of the exchange databases are set to the default maintenance schedule of 1am-5am. It seems like something is running at that time which interferes with the DPM agent, but I'm having trouble tracking down what it could be.

Since we are evaluating DPM, I do not have any MS support available to assist with this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
