Wireless Connection Icon Changed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

I am running a dell Studio Laptop with a built in wireless card and Win 7 Home Premium. Two weeks ago, the wireless connection changed from the graduated bars to the wired icon and placed a red X on the icon. After several days I got tired of this since I depend on the wireless icon for connection information. I went in and turned off the wired connection and the taskbar icon changed to the graduated bar. However, the icon doesn't have the typical animation it use dto have. It used to show by coloring the bars how good the connection was. If I mouse over the icon, I do get a colored bar icon on the popup.

Does anyone know what happened and how I can get the icon animation back?

    Thanks for your help!

  • The first picture is ok. This is the way Windows 7 displays the icon. The other icons are shown inside the Network and sharing center.

  • Hi,

can you please use the snipping tool and make some screenshots and upload them, with the help of your SkyDrive [1], here? I currently don't understand your issue and pictures would help to understand your issue.

  • Hi Andre,

My current wireless Icon looks like this

Before all this happened it looked like any one of these depending on the connection strength

Hope this helps you sort this out.

PS the second Connected set of icons came from the popup when you click the wireless icon. Since it has animation there it must have used the same thing for animating the taskbar icon, I guess.

    Thanks for your help!
