Location of Blue Screen Dump File RRS feed

  • Question

  • An application support team is asking me for a copy of my Blue Screen Dump file. Where will I find that file so I can send a copy to them to review?

  • Check here in this folder:

    C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy (not move) the minidump files to another location such as the Desktop and send from there.

Larger memory.dmp file which has more info is here - also can copy this file to another location to access:

    C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

The memory.dmp file will be quite large, you could zip and compress the memory.dmp file with a third party application such as 7-Zip.

  • Hi,

By default, when Blue Screen occur, a minidump is created under C:\Windows\minidumps.

If your system is configured to generate a full dump, larger memory dumps like kernel memory dumps and complete memory dumps will be created under C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP by default.

We also could custom and check the location of dump file by right click “Computer” as the high light shows.

    Best regards,

    Joy.
