CM 1511 and ADK 10 version 1607- Import boot image error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I have a boot image with all the necessary network and storage drivers already included. When I try to import this boot image into a newly setup CM 1511 that has ADK 10 version 1607, I see a message 'You can not import this boot image. Only finalized boot images are supported'. I have come across a hotfix KB3143760 but I am not really sure if this is relevant in my case.

Any help here to resolve my issue is much appreciated. Thanks.

  • The latest 1607 ADK isn't supported by ConfigMgr 1511. See: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2016/09/09/configuration-manager-and-the-windows-adk-for-windows-10-version-1607/

ConfigMgr 1511 is out of Support anyway, so you should upgrade to 1606 or 1610 to be supported again and also to get support for the 1607 ADK.

  • Thanks Simon.

Would that mean the hotfix isn't required for ConfigMgr 1606/1610 and ADK 1607?

Also Can I continue to use the existing custom boot image which already has all the necessary drivers or should I recreate one using ADK 1607.

  • Hello

    Please check this below link

    https://www.systemcenterdudes.com/step-by-step-sccm-1606-upgrade-guide/

boot image will be upgraded once configMgr 1606/1610 installed

  • If you were doing your customization on the default boot image, it's possible that during upgrade, boot image will be failed to update.

If you created a separate boot images then what's the version? If 1511, then it should still be able to deploy latest windows OS. You can continue using it.

I suggest to re-create a new one and distribute to your DPs.
