Sharepoint outsider access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Friends,

We meet some problems with outsider access. Some of our employees retired (Thus lose the office 365 account with the company) but still work as a contractor once a while. We did want them to have access to certain resources(like certain subsites, folders, libraries)  with our SharePoint online site, but we don't want to regrant them the office 365 account as usual employees.

Is there a solution that will not charge us more dollars?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Oper, I don't believe so. If you have users accessing the Office 365 site they will need accounts. You can provide anonymous access to specific items per the below URL. As you can imagine, this is by design to make use of the subscription model.

  • Andrew, Thank you for the answer.

So is it possible that we provide a domain like @contractor.foobar.com, and provide them access through this way?

    Thanks,

  • I'm not sure. It would seem like they would need an account in your AD/your subscription to Office 365. If you have an account there, you may be able to reach out to the support to discuss.
