Language Bar OK so far - but I miss Microsoft Visual Keyboard. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I squeezed nearly nine years out of an old Win 98 machine, then finally
got this new box with XP SP2.

I occasionally have to create files in EN/EL/RU/DE/FR/ES, and the new
Language Bar installed and set up in XP without a hitch.  But I've searched
high and low, and I cannot find a modern equivalent for the Microsoft Visual
Keyboard, sometimes called MVK and other times "vkey".

Do some of the folks here remember "vkey"?  You could shift the input
language with left-<ALT>/<SHIFT> - and the "vkey" actually displays a
little 101-key keyboard layout on screen with the keycaps labelled in the
target language you selected on the Language Bar.  When you press
any key, the visual display signals the foreign character you're getting.

Can someone tell me if there is a modern version of Visual Keyboard
    right here under my nose?

Right now, I can input text, but without a keyboard layout displayed, I
can only hunt and peck for the foreign letters I need.

    Thanks in advance,
