It sounds to me like the user has changed the default location of the local project cache.  To determine this, ask the user to click File > Options > Save.  In the Cache Location field at the bottom of the page, the cache location should be like the following:

    C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MS Project\16\Cache\

That is the default location.  What do you see in this field?  Let us know and we will try to help.

  • When clearing the cache there is a folder that points to the cache location.  Close project pro client and from file explorer, delete the folder.  Sometimes switching between wired and wireless creates orphaned cache and this may resolve.

  • Hi all,

We have checked and the cache folder location also didn't change.

We tried to delete the folder, even though the problem still persists.

    Can you help on it.

We are running out of ideas.  Out of curiosity, has the user tried running a Repair operation from the Control Panel on their copy of Microsoft Project Professional?  Just a thought.  Hope this helps.
