Startup IPv6

  • I am looking to start working with IPv6 but I have no test network.  My local service providers have not yet adopted ipv6. I would like to start addressing my network to do simple testing.  I have a single network addressing range 192.168.3.x and would use dual stack What addresses could I used to get started with a dual stack. I have 3 Windows 2008 R2 servers that I need to be static, 1 Exchange server, 1 dns/dhcp/files PDC server and  a backup pdc.

I have a mixture of Windows 7 and XP.  I really don't want to involve the XP clients.

What addresses do I use. And what advice would you give me to get started.

  • 1. Do not experiment in your production environment. Build test environment.

    2. Read something about IPv6, eg. Understanding IPv6 (O'Reilly-Microsoft)
