System Volume Information permission/owner problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello I am a new member so sorry if I post at wrong category.

My C: drive (system drive) has a system volume information folder and I have been messed up with the owner and permission settings for the folder, now I keep getting access denied message when creating restore points. I have try all the method like turn off system restore and re-enable it but still get error. Now I need to delete it and let Windows to recreate it with default permission or manually change permission/owner to default.

    1) Is it actually safe to delete the folder and let Windows to recreate it?

2)If cannot delete, can someone please tell me the his PC's security settings (permission+owner) for each folder/file inside the SVI folder using program TreeSize Free:

    -System Volume Information folder

    -SPP

    -SystemRestore

    -WindowsImageBackup

    -IndexerVolumeGuid

    -MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase

    -tracking.log

    -SPP\OnlineMetadataCache

    -SPP\SppCbsHiveStore

    -SPP\SppGroupCache

    -SystemRestore\FRStaging

    -WindowsImageBackup\SPPMetadataCache

    -SPP\OnlineMetadataCache\............_OnDiskSnapshotProp

    -SPP\SppGroupCache\......._DriverPackageInfo

    -SPP\SppGroupCache\......._WindowsUpdateInfo

    Thank.
