Not seem tape barcode for recovery jobs. Only notify "job waiting tape" message. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using SC-DPM 2012 with a standalone tape drive (hp ultrium 3000).  I have made a protection group for a file server volume that have about 6 TB data and backed up the protection group directly to the stand alone tape drive. Tape backup job completed succesfully and took up 5 tape cartridges.  View tape list  shows 5 tapes cartridges for the protection group. no error appears. After I defined a recovery job into recovery point  for a file.   But The recovery job ended with "job waiting tape" message. The message does not contain tape barcode information. How can  I see correct tape barcode for the recovery files.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

There should be an alert telling you to mount the required tape.  Since it's a standalone tape drive, there are no barcodes, so you will need to look at the tape label name in the alert.  If you didn't write the DPM friendly label on the external of the tape cartridge, then just insert a tape in the drive and do an inventory and it will read the tape and display the on-media label, if it isn't the right tape, eject it and put in another until the correct one is mounted, then click on the continue job link in the alert to continue.
