Reveal Password RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can I remove the reveal password eye icon from my Window 7 Home Premium system. I have tried the instructions in "How to remove the reveal password eye icon in IE 10 in Win 7 Home Premium", but the instructions did not lead me in the right direction.

  • Hi,

    We'd not suggest you disable it.

    If you still want to disable it, you could change its configuration through Registry Editor:

    1. Start -> search box, type regedit -> press Enter;
    2. Locate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main;
    3. The key probably doesn't exist, so you would need to make it:
    • Right click Microsoft -> click New -> click Key -> type Internet Explorer;
    • Right click at Internet Explorer -> New -> Key -> type Main;
    • Right click at Main ->  New -> click Dword (32bit) value -> type DisablePasswordReveal;
    • Right click at DisablePasswordReveal -> click Modify -> under Vaue data box, enter “1” ;
    • Click OK

  • The "eye"symbol is a new feature in IE10.
    It's designed (when you mouse over it) to help make sure you insert the correct password.

    Would you consider uninstalling IE 10, thus letting the system revert back to its previous IE 9 version?

    Advice offered in good faith. It is your decision to implement same.
