Exporting content types/columns

We have MOSS on a test server but we need to reinstall it. I have a content type in there with about 120 columns that I do not want to lose when we reinstall MOSS on the server. Is there a way I can export the content type or the columns and then import them to the new site?

Hi,

You could try using Gary LaPointe's stsadm -o gl-copycontenttypes extension http://stsadm.blogspot.com/2007/08/copy-content-types.html. These stsadm extensions are free of charge and use at your own risk. http://stsadm.blogspot.com/2009/02/downloads.html

I have used the gl-copycontenttypes many times and it works great. One note when copying a content types is to match the case, especially if there are child content types that you built off of that one, http://www.sharepointblogs.com/radi/archive/2009/04/11/content-type-definitions-removefieldref-id-s-are-case-sensitive.aspx
