DISK READ ERROR....Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart RRS feed

  • Im using HCL laptop.....having 120GB SATA HDD. 


    i had installed Ubuntu n later deleted from Disk Management n installed XP again.


    after some days i went to my friend from home on SCOOTER....n all d way to his home the laptop is shaking.


    then i switched ON the laptop....d message comming.... "DISK READ ERROR....Press CTRL+ALT+DEL"


    now my question is....


    what made it like tht....Did my HDD crashed???




    Some sectors of the HDD having BAD SECTORS...(i had seen them whn im formatting XP last time)


    if at all my HDD crashes.....can i "RECOVER my DATA"????   if "yes"...."how can i"???    very imp data are there on the HDD....


    Please please help mee............

  • Insert your XP disk and boot from the disk
    Select recovery console
    follow the prompts until you are in DOS
    at the above prompts type FIXMBR

    This will fix the Master Boot Record for Windows it will ask you if you are sure and follow the prompts

    once complete type CHKDSK /r
    that is CHKDSK space /r
    this will check the disk and repair any bad sectors

    once complete type exit

    system will reboot
