DPM 2010 Client Protection Sync Loop RRS feed

  • Question

  • Running Client Protection on DPM 2010 version 3.0.7707.0 on Windows 7.  The first client added to the Protection Group runs a consistency check fine and future backups work perfectly.  If i add another client to the same protection group the client gets stuck in a Sync loop.  The client connects to the server fine, gets the backup schedule and policy however never starts the actual first sync.  If i try and run a sync from the server it tells me initialzation is pending and it wont let me do anything.

  • Hi Dave,

From an administrative command prompt on the DPM server run the following command:

    dpmsync -datacopied

Once this command has been run all clients that experience this problem after being added to an existing client protection group will be able to synchronize with DPM.

    Thanks,

    Marc

  • Further update to this.  If i stop the protection group and recreate it with both computers in it the replication and backups work fine...  So issue seems to be related to adding clients to an existing protection group get stuck at sync status and never complete.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Marc, this seems to have resolved my issue. I still need to finalise testing and add some more clients but i have successfully added more than 1 client
