Forefront Client Security - Windows 8.1 compatibility + WSUS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey there,

There is something I am just not figuring out. We have Forefront Client Security as our company Antivirus. It is deployed to the domain via group policy to auto-install the client on every PC.

Everyting worked great, until I installed Windows 8.1. When that happened, the Windows 8.1 did not install Forefront Client, it just kept the Windows Defender and I do not know if it somehow integrates or not.

Also, the Forefront Security is installed on a Windows 2003 Server with WSUS as well. WSUS does not see the Windows 8.1 machine, even though I configured it to download updates for it, and it did download them. It just doesn't see the machine.

In addition when I do a gpupdate on the windows 8.1 machine it gives :

The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to
a domain controller. This may be a transient condition. A success message would.....

But I can ping the DC easy (windows 2008).

Any ideeas on how to fix these issues?

  • I simply reintroduced the host in the domain and that worked.
