Office default save location RRS feed

  • Question

  • Via GPO Office 2007 default save location is set to S:\Documents where S:\ is the user's home directory. This works properly when opening, say Word, and then hitting save as. The default save as path shows up as S:\Documents.

This does not work properly when doing the following:

    • Open IE.
    • Click a link that is a .doc(x).
    • Click Open.
    • The document opens in word.
    • Click Save As...

What happens is the default location is now Temporary Internet Files. Is there a way to correct this? Why exactly does the default save location not work when opening a document this way?

Because you are saving an existing document. AFAIK, the default location
only works for documents that are "new", i.e. were never saved anywhere.

NO THEY ARE NOT EVIL, if you know what you are doing: Good or bad GPOs?
