MS Direct Access client roll out on Newly Domain join systems via GPOs!

    Question

  • Hello All,

I would like to know if we can have a procedure wherein the Direct Access components will be deployed to the client machine once they are joined in AD. In addition, the machine needs to have the correct GPOs for the Direct Access gateway they need to connect to eg. for Europe users – connect to Europe Direct Access gateway should be used, China gateway -> Connect China gateway and so on. The connection of which Direct Access gateway to use especially for Windows 7 machines are managed through GPO.

Is this possible to implement via GPO or any Script available to search newly Join domain Windows 7 system then move to respective groups.

    Guys appreciate your support here.

    Thanks,

I am sorry to say that Group policy can't help us do this. We may ask for suggestions in the following scripting forum to see if they can provide the help we need.

Another possible workaround is we can add the Authenticated Users under the Security Filtering instead of direct access client group in the Direct Access client GPO, and then use WMI filter to apply the GPO to specific clients.

Regarding WMI filter for a GPO targeting Windows 7 clients, the following article can be referred to for more information.
