Can't connect to internet using a WPA2 key RRS feed

  • Question

  • Compaq Presario with xp. Oldish but with service pack 3. But we have router with WPA2. Computer won't recognize key code from back of router. Tried to 'update' to KB893357 which gives WPA2, put message said the computer's program is 'newer' so update not needed. Still can't use key. No error message either, just quits trying, and not connected. (Ethernet cable works ok, but we want wireless). What can I do now?

  • The drivers for the wifi adapter must also support wpa2. Search the manufacturers website for updated drivers. However some old wifi adapters do not support wpa2 at all, so the best option would then be to purchase a usb wifi dongle. These are pretty cheap.
