WSUS Updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a Windows server 2012 HYPERV running a SBS 2011 and a 2008 R2 File Server and looking over the Unapproved updates in WSUS i saw that there is a pending update for "Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4 for x64." (KB3139907) However we have no servers running 2016 tech preview (that I know of) is there a way to track down what requested the update?

    Thanks

  • SBS's WSUS by default is setup to look for ALL MS applications so you will see this (and a lot of other chaff) in the Update Services console if you check your WSUS that way.  It won't actually download any update that does not apply to your network so no worries.  Note that you shouldn't change this "ALL" setting as it supposedly breaks the SBS console WSUS integration (Security/Updates), which is how most SBSers mange updates as it provides a less cluttered interface.

  • What system hosts WSUS?  Not that I know the answer, but maybe someone will given that bit of info.

  • SBS 2011 is the DC running WSUS. FYI - SBS 2011 is based off 2008 R2.
