Get-WinEvent : The RPC server is unavailable RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Get-WinEvent -ComputerName "REMOTESERVER" -FilterHashTable @{LogName='Service'; Level=1,2,3;} 

    -- Get-WinEvent : The RPC server is unavailable

    Get-WinEvent -ComputerName REMOTESERVER -FilterHashTable @{LogName='Service'; Level=1,2,3;} 

    -- Get-WinEvent : The RPC server is unavailable

    Get-WinEvent -ComputerName LOCALMACHINE -FilterHashTable @{LogName='Service'; Level=1,2,3;} 

    -- Working Fine.

    Can anyone help me. How can i get the event log from a remote machine?

  • Solved this issue by using Invoke-Command and passing credentials along with it.

  • Make sure firewall is open for remoting.

    Select Inbound Rules and in the list, right-click Remote Event Log Management (RPC) and select Enable Rule.

  • Did you try this:

    Get-WinEvent -FilterHashtable @{ ... } -ComputerName xxxx -Credential $cred

  • Yes. It didn't worked for me. I don't know why it didn't worked for me.
