Can't work on Project Server 2010 through Project Professional 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have ProjServ2010 installed and a PWA installed and working fine.

I try to access via ProjProf2010 and, after having inserted correct credential at the profile prompt, the profile request start to loop, without asking any new credentials.

In ProjServ the last connection timestamp of the user trying to login is correctly updated.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks

  • Hi Paul,

I disabled the loopbackcheck adding the new value in the register of the server, than re-started, but nothing changed.

When I connect in the same LAN of the server I have the loop as mentioned before.

When I try to connect via VPN, I can access with all users I defined (administrators and PMs) via web browser, but when I access via Project Pro

I get this error "could not retrieve initialization data from server".

I installed Project Pro directly on server and connected to PWA instance: it works with the PM user.

I must inform you that I want to access Project Server from a computer that is not in the Project Server Domain, but in a completely different domain, and I'm accessing via VPN.

    Thanks, Alessandro

  • Hi,

I'm in an implementation phase and i'm working only in a single machine with ProjProf installed.

In PS2010 I've defined some user and resources.

Accounts i try to access from PP2010 are setup as

        1. Project resource (PM group)

        2. Project user (administrator)

Both doesn't connect via PP2010 but currently work via webbrowser

    thanks,

    Alessandro

  • Hi Alessandro

Are you using IE on the same server or a different machine? If you are accessing PWA from a different machine it could be the loop back check preventing access with Proj Pro on the server. See method 2 to disable the loop back check:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861

Set this up on the server, reboot and retest.

    Thanks

    Paul
