Selecting run as admin doesnt give elevated permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have run into an issue on two users in my active directory domain.  Whenever I right click and choose run as admin it does not prompt for credentials and the users logged in do not have admin rights.  It doesn't prompt for credentials and doesn't open the dialog asking if the program can make changes.  It will start whatever it is but not with elevated permissions.  The weird part is that this happened on their accounts in Windows XP and when I upgraded them to Win 7 it still happens.  For installing I usually end up dragging whatever the application is to the local disk and doing a runas command but it is inconvenient and doesn't work for existing programs.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks
