Forcefull Shutdown of App-V 5.0 Package RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

I have issue with uninstalling the App-V 5.0 Package, please help me to solve this scenario.

I have sequenced Microsoft Office 2007, published the app and tested. Looks good.
But, while uninstall the if any shortcut is open the status is "IN-Use" so we get an error.
we can use the powershell command Stop-AppvClient Package to force shutdown the virtual package.

I do  standalone install using MSI, and uninstall the application using MSI. In this case am not able to use the powershell command.

I tried including a custom action in MSI to use the powershell command for shutdown, No luck

is there any other way i follow to solve this issue.

I push the MSI through SCCM install and uninstall.

  • Hello,

    1. Try your scenario with a package created on App-V 5.0 SP2 on a App-V 5.0 SP2 client

    2. Create a custom-script to run before the installer begins

    3. Run the uninstall when no user is logged on

  • See this article for a discussion on pending removal/update features available in App-V 5.0 SP2: http://www.applepie.se/app-v-5-0-sp2-and-pending-removal-update

You may need ConfigMgr 2012 R2 to support this.
