COM+ access permission from server 2008 to server 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are having problem to configure access to a com+ component located on server 2003 from client machine Server 2008.

Both computers are not in a domain.

While establising a connection an error is displayed: "Interface not supported", which, as far as we know is security related issue. If on both computers we set up the same login and password, the connection is established.

The server com+ configuration is set up to allow anonymous access without enforcing security roles.

The strange thing is that between two server 2003 machines everything is ok (even if in the event log on the server a record is inserted informing about an unknown user trying to log in)

I have read somewhere that in order to establish such connection, the same user accounts must exist on both machines, but it is ridiculus, as all the clients should have the username and password the same as is on the server.

    What can we do?

  • Hello,

did you try the connection with UAC disabled?

What about the by default running firewall within Windows server 2008?
