  • ISSUE: We are unable to start Microsoft Exchange Mail submission service.

CAUSE: During troubleshooting we diagnose that "Allow service to interact with desktop" was checked and the following file c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Bin\MSExchangeMailSubmission.exe.config had    <generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false" /> entry in it.

RESOLUTION: We disabled "Allow service to interact with desktop" from services properties and removed <generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false" /> from config file and successfully able to start the service.

  • No other services seem to have problems and all are started ok.

  • Set the Mail Submission service to start with Administrator credentials and it started ok. Was set to Local System.

However when doing this I get the error that the Mail Submission service is unable to contact any Hub Transport server.

There are no signs about connectivity problems between Mailbox and Hub transport servers, DNS resolves fine.

  • Hi

For the error "Mail Submission Service will not Start"

We have to enter the generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false" entry in the msexchangemailsubmission.exe.config file. on the mailbox server. We also had to enter the following registry key  "ServicesPipeTimeout" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control to 90000 .  We then rebooted the mailbox server and the mailbox submission service started

    Cheers
