  • Question

  • I inherited a DPM 2012 serverthat backups 2 mailboxes sever of exchange  2010 MBX1 and MBx2 (dag1 contain MBX1 and MBX2)

I have 2 question regarding the DPM 2010

Q1 I don't have the password of local user account that DPM creates automatically while installation

i don't know how to get it and can I reset the password what will happen

Q2 what if i removed the agent of DPM 2010 on server MBx2 and create a new server for DMP 2012 and backup the mailbox  database of MBX02 using DMP 2012

    is that possible

  • Hi,

Why backup both MBX1 and MBX2? If it's a DAG, Mailbox Databases are on both MBX, Active/Passive ?

  • Thanks for you Kind support

Why backup both MBX1 and MBX2?

the answer is for example if I only backup MBx01 and Mbx01 has been down for a while I should begin the initial backup of Mbx02 Databses from scratch and  that will take a long time as I only backup the databases under MBX01

    Am I right or not

  • Hi,

You are right. But why should you MBX be down for a while? Yes, during Windows Update and reboot. After reboot the backup will continue. Recovery Points can be every 15 minutes.

  • ok thanks Dkota for you reply

so I'm reading now that "I must install some host fixes before upgrading ,for example I must install 2465832 host fix and the 2465832 hostfix needs 2223201 host fix in which I read if you don't have the extension of volume problem described in the 2223201 ,so you don't have to istall it  and I don't have this problem but I have to install the 2223201 which is required by 2465832

    regarding this question
