NetFX3- error 0x800F0906 (internet) and error 0x800f081f (from Windows installation media) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to install .NET Framework 3.5. When I try to use Windows Update, I get error 0x800F0906. Note that I have had no issues with Windows Update thus far.

    I reviewed https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782/en-us

    Method 1 does not help.

When I try to use Windows installation media (Windows 8 DVD or Windows 8.1 Enterprise trial ISO), I get the error:

    Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found

Not sure what the next step is.

    Here's my DISM log:

And then a bunch of Asian character gibberish.

Note that this is a clean Windows 8 install (did not repartition, just reinstalled onto system disk). I upgraded to 8.1 via the Windows Store.

    Thanks for your help

  • Hi

When you add in the features do you specify the source location?

Open up powershell and run this command:

Install-OSCNetFx3 -LocalSource D:\sources\sxs (Change D:\ to the location of your media)

Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
