Lync 2013 meeting - web app on Vista offers no voice/video? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My client's organization is on Office 365.  Their Lync 2013 meetings work well except for certain outside users who are unable to receive audio through the meeting.  In at least some of these cases, they are running Vista with updated modern browsers.  I haven't been able to find a straight answer - Does the Web App for Lync support video and voice on Vista machines?

  • Check out this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425820.aspx

You'll see a table that says "Supported Operating System and Browser Combinations for Lync Web App" in which for "Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2)" there's a footnote, the footnote reads "On supported Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 operating systems, computer-based voice and video are not available. Application viewing, application sharing, desktop viewing, and desktop sharing are available."
