Will defragging a server hard drive cause DPM to run a consistency check? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Relatively new to DPM 2012, and we're trying to get it configured in our environment.

I understand DPM uses a block-level method to back up data on a server.

My concern:  we have several servers using a third-part defrag utility to run on the data disks once a month-- Will this drive defragging cause DPM to run a consistency check?  We're already seeing very long CCing times, I don't want them to run any longer.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Defragging a protected volume should not have any impact on DPM protection.
