Hyper-V network performance with Intel NIC RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

    I have a Cisco UCS-E Server running Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V.

I am running a custom linux on the Hyper-V with the below setup.

    Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V enabled

    Custom linux version 2.6.32

    Linux Integration Services version 3.5

External Interfaces: Intel Ethernet Connection X552/X557-AT 10GBASE-T   (Hyper-V vSwitch)

Internal Interfaces: Broadcom NX II 1GE

I am getting good network performance with Broadcom NX II NICs in another hardware.

But with Intel NIC, I am getting very low network performance in the VM of only ~1 MBps.I dont find any support information for Intel 10GE Interfaces is compatible with Hyper-V vSwitch.

    Any thoughts ?

    Thanks in advance,

  • Saleem,

you indicate you are using LIS 3.5 that Cisco built into your Linux kernel release. You may want to encourage them to upgrade their LIS (which includes a number of improvements to the netvsc stack) as they are a couple years out of date.
