DPM 2010 Recover VHD from tape RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using DPM 2010 on Windows 2008 R2 backing up various virtual machines at the machine level and physical machines at the volume level. We were trying to restore a VHD, this worked when the backup was on disk but once it was from tape we got "error id 1001".  We tried various restore locations and it always gave the same error.  Has anyone else came across this problem or know why this is happening.

  • We found if we go up on level in the recovery item chooser we could do it. If we chose the VHD it crashed, if we chose the "all protected HyperV Data it works fine

  • All  get is an error 1001 on the screen. If I click for more details it crashes and I cannot get any information on it.

  • Hi,

So the restore wizard is crashing before the job is launched ?

Are there any DPMUI0Curr.errlog*.crash logs when this occurs in the C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2010  folder ?  If so, you might want to take a look to see it contains anything that may help you troubleshoot it.

I probably can't diagnose this in the forum, you will need to open a support case for investigation.
