Sharepoint Sitemap + manual Ordering RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

As you may know, Sharepoint allows for subsites to be manually ordered within the hosting site. This data must be persisted somewhere and I have a feeling that it is within the sitemap.

I want to know how this is done. I get the feeling that it is actually a linked list that just gets its NextSibling or PreviousSibling properties changed according to how the user manually orders the sites within a hosting site.

The thing is..I need to grab hold of that order, so to speak that I can know which page is the 'first' or Topmost site in the hosting site.

    Cheers

  • GetchildNodes method of PortalSiteMapProvider class will give you nodes which are either ordered manually or automatic based on your site navigation settings.

  • Great! You are right. Thanks a lot for that as it saved a lot of trouble for me.
