how to automatically delete the user profile when the user is removed from AD

    i want to delete the user profile from the SharePoint once the user name and id is removed from AD how to automatically achieve this in SharePoint online

  • no it dosent happens in SharePoint online.

    we can see it our employees who exist from the firm once their id is removed from AD their profile still exists.

  • Can you clarify what you mean by the profile? You may be using it correctly but sometimes people get confused between User Information Lists, Search results and the User Profile itself in the UPS.

    There is a delay between a user being disabled or removed from the Azure AD instance and them being removed from the UPS. I can't remember how long it is on SPO but it should be something that we can find. How long have these users been deleted for?

  • its User Profile. the account is deleted long before. say like 3 months but still we can see his name and email in the people search result.

  • Firstly can you confirm that the account has been removed from the Azure AD instance, that's the cloud based copy of AD that SharePoint Online works with. If your sync method isn't cleaning up accounts then it can result in stuff hanging around.

    Once you've confirmed that they aren't in Azure AD, check the user profiles in SharePoint Online through the Admin centre to see if they are still listed there.
