UAG - SP2010 - HTTP / WWW & SAN Cert RRS feed

  • Question

  • Just started working again with UAG, and from memory, a previous senario of mine, redirected www requests to the http:// site.

    EG : www.test.com redirected to https://test.com

I am unable to re-produce this senario, which will mean that we will need to add www to the SAN Certificate.

Can anyone provide me with any further information, regarding my assumption that i was previously able to have www - redirect to non www.

    Cheers in advance

  • I have a temporary solution in place.

    * also www is stripped from the URL if the user comes in over https... https://www.test.com will go to https://test.com

    Temp Solution,

utilising the second trunk (HTTP) which runs our web services (WCF)

I have created additional web hosting applications, which point back to an IIS server, which offers the 301 redirect, back to the second trunk. Whilst this is not a favourable design, it does meet the final objective.

So the pattern is, http://www.test.com => Trunk 1 (.20) => Internal IIS / MOSS Server (.25) => Redirect back to Trunk 2 => to the correct SP website.

  • If I understand you correctly, you would like to have aredirect from http://www.contoso.com to https://contoso.com

Is that what you are looking for? If so, have a look at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee406216.aspx and manual URL replacement. Note that you need a trunk that matches the replaced URL.

For redirecting http to https with the same hostname, look at redirects tunk

  • Thanks for that,

You spot on with the scenario (www to non www)

I think the simpliest method may be creating a CNAME Record back to the non WWW site

Reading through that document now also, to have a look at all available options

(It will set up back another 18k if there is no method around this, due to the changes in the SAN cert)

  • Ok, testing the manual redirect now.

    Trunk : portal.contoso.com

    Application : SP2010 / url contoso.com

    Internal URL : sp.contoso.local

For the Manual Re-Direct / Rerouting

    URL : www.contoso.com

    to URL : https://contoso.com

    Type : Rerouting

    Servername : sp.contoso.local

    Port : Empty

    Use SSL : Ticked

    Apply before Authentication : Ticked

(Authentication happens at SP, (claims based)
