SCCM 2007 Secondary site migration to SCCM 2012 DP. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We are planning to upgrade/Assign the SCCM 2007 DP as SCCM 2012 DP . So the content of packages that we have migrated is converted into the single instance store format.

we need to change the source path of migrated packages. Once we changed the source path to New SCCM 2012 source path, the migrated packages source content will re-copy through WAN to DP again?

    TIA

  • No. The content version will be updated and the site will check to make sure that nothing has changed (which will cause some network traffic) but assuming the files haven't changed they will not be copied again.

  • Thanks Jason.

SCCM 2007 we have used UNC path and we have migrated those packages to SCCM 2012 and upgraded SCCM 2007 Secondary site to SCCM 2012 DP.

    Task:

We will copy the source files to SCCM 2012 server and setting the UNC path for the migrated packages. In this scenario 100% will not re-copy the source content through WAN to DP?

Note : no changes to existing source files.

  • That's right. The whole point of doing an in place upgrade is that the existing content is retained. However there are no 100% guarantees. The migration could fail. In that case content won't just be distributed automatically. You would have to manually create the DP and distribute the content.
