UAG - External Load Balancer (F5) - Heath check. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have setup our UAG servers and F5's to do health checks like Ben Ari recommended in his blog, 2011/07/05 Signs of Life

Now instead of "Invalid Request Version" warnings in the logs we get multiple entries for sessions starting and stopping from our redundant pair of F5's.

The other problem is that these connections remain open for around 4 minutes each even though the F5's are set to close them by default.

With the F5's doing health checks every 5 seconds and the connections hanging around for 4 minutes each; we sit at a steady 50 active sessions per trunk on the Web Monitor just from the load balancers.

So here is my question. Is there a better way to do this? Optimally, I would prefer not to have the health checks from the external load balancers reflected in either the Web Monitor or the logs.

    Thanks in advance,
