Trying to federate with a domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    We use SFB 2015.

I have federated with a few companies now and all works well.  However we are have trouble with another company and can't federate.  In that past they have given me the wrong domain name to federate with.  For example they will give me domainname.com and it's actually something like domainname.onmicrosoft.com as it's hosted in the O365 cloud.

Is there a log file anywhere where I can see attempts from domains trying to federate so I can see what domain name they are really using?

    Thanks

  • Hi TB303,

Based on my experience, there is no log to check the domain name of your federation company, you need to confirm the name with your federation domain.

Moreover, I will share a document about how to do SFB federation, please refer to
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204800%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx

Note: It’s same to SFB server 2015.

Hope this reply is helpful to you.

    Regards,

    Alice Wang

  • The Edge server event viewer sums up all the domains that are discovered that open for federation. That does it only if your organization is configured for open federation.

  • Thanks, looks like it locked down as we always have to add the domains to allow.

  • Ah, then Edge won't be doing that :)

No other way to get the domain list though. Any specific reason it's locked down? Lot of organizations are encouraging Open Federation.
