Vista Startup Sound RRS feed

  • Question

  • I think I'm in the minority here, but I actually like the Vista Startup Sound - I like all the vista sounds, ____...I like Vista.  So I copied all the wav files in C:/Windows/Media from my vista machine to my Xp machine and changed the XP machine to play Vista sounds for the typical actions.  But I want Xp to play the Vista startup sound.  Problem is it's not in Media.

I've searched the pc, googled the topic (all I find there is how people hate it), and searched TechNet...no help.  So where is the Vista Startup sound file so I can cop it to the XP machine?

  • Hello,

Vista is the first version of Windows to include a non user-customizable startup sound. The sound is played while the Pearl (or Orb) animates and included in the imageres.dll. By default, the sound either plays or it doesn't and it is impossible to copy it out to another system. Thanks for your time and understanding1

    Hope the information helpful!
