Windows login error - if the Microsoft account email shown is incorrect, can you successfully log in, even with correct password?

    Question

  • A user somehow entered their email address incorrectly when setting up their Microsoft account for Windows 10 login.  Now when logging in, the login screen shows email as (example) jim@livee.com instead of jim@live.com.  Correct password doesn't work.  Workaround??

"You can't sign in to your PC right now. Go to account.live.com to fix the problem, or try the last password you used on this PC"

I can log in to jim@live.com with correct password at account.live.com

  • Hello,

I believe if you've another account on machine, use it to delete the faulty account. That's all you can do.

    Regards.

  • Hi ,

You could logon with another administrator account. Then, go to settings>Accounts> Family&other People, remove your incorrect account.

    Best regards
