Roles in VMM and Hyper-V RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi all

When you have the rights in VMM to manage a virtual machine, rights are not checked in hyper-v.

    Is this a wanted feature?

Roles assigned in VMM are not shown in azman and roles assigned in azman seem to have no impact.

    Any help on this?

    Michael,

In the Beta, VMM directs Hyper-V to use it's own AzMan store.  The host agent synchronizes this private AzMan store against the VMM database to centralize role and security administration.  If you are using the AzMan MMC it is likely pointing to the original xml file that Hyper-V installed with the role and not the one that is being managed by VMM.

    Best regards,

  • Hi,

Just to clarify - we were told in the virtualization summit in January that the role/security administration of the Hyper-V MMC plugin and SCVMM vNext would be totally separate - if you wanted anything other than the defaults you would have to duplicate your configuration in both places.  Are you saying that they are actually connected?  Can you point me to anything explaining this connection in greater detail? (For instance, is it two-way or does SCVMM override?)

    thanks!
