MS Project 2010 print preview and .pdf the + and - signs indicating a summary record does not display RRS feed

  • Question

  • In previous versions of MS Project when saving .mpp file to a .pdf file it preserved the exact .mpp image including the + and - signs indicating a summary record and if the summary task was collapsed or not. These indicators no longer display in MS Project 2010 on a printout or a .pdf and there is nothing I have been able to find to overcome this. This is very important when sharing the document with other's that don't have MS project.

  • Hi M Stofko,

Indeed the + and - characters to give the information about the summary task is no longer displayed in PDF printing of MS Project 2010. Nevertheless there is a space for subtasks that indicates they are located under a summary task, which are still displayed in bold.

As a workaround, I can suggest you to insert the "summary" column:

    Hope this helps.

  • A screen capture does seem to capture the outline symbols. (SnagIt or the Snipping Tool in Win 7)

You may also consider turning on the display of the Outline Numbers to show summary and subtasks.
