ONE Contact List for Outlook, SharePoint, and Cell Phone

    Question

  • Desired Goal: To have only ONE Contact list in Outlook which will be mirrored in SharePoint and will display on a cell phone. A contact added to any one of these sources will automatically update the other two. Is this possible in Office 365/SharePoint and Outlook 2016? If possible, please guide me step-by-step. Thank you in advance for sharing from your expertise.

  • Hi RaySmithTech,

What do you mean the “cell phone”? Is the cell phone also the list? Or is the cell phone column in the list?

You could create a contact list in SharePoint online and click “connect to outlook”. It will sync all items in contact list to outlook. If you add contacts in contact list in SharePoint online, it will sync the contacts to outlook automatically. And if you add contacts in outlook, it will sync the contacts to contact list in SharePoint online. It is the two-way synchronization between outlook and contact list in SharePoint online.

If the cell phone also is the list in SharePoint online, you could create workflow for contact list and cell phone list. When contact is added in contact list, it will trigger workflow to add contact to the cell phone list. If the contact is added in cell phone list, it will trigger workflow to add contact to the contact list.

After all, if contact is added in outlook, it will sync to contact list, and then trigger the workflow to add contact to the cell phone list.

If the contact is added in contact list, it will sync to outlook, and trigger the workflow to add contact to the cell phone list.

If the contact is added in cell phone list, it will trigger the workflow to add contact to contact list and sync to the outlook.
