Trying to delete an old Application RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I am tryin got delete a couple of old applications and seeing an error: Timeout Expired. Error code 0000B058.

I am able to delete new projects. Is this because it may leave orphaned records in the database? If so whats the best way to remove them?

    Regards

    Ian

  • I haven't done, I'm going to try and remove the records from the Application_Usage table and the Message_log table and then see if it lets me remove the application.

  • Ian,

Do you have a large numbre of applications in your management console? What if you move one of the problematic app into a dedicated subgroup and try to delete it from there?

When you mention orphaned record, I assume you mean that you are unable to remove packages unless all applications have been first removed? That's exactly for the reasons you mention, SQL records for applications point to the package they belong to. That linkage would be broken if package is deleted before apps themselves.

  • Uday,

I think he is talking about App-V backend, not the client for which sftmime would be appropriate.

  • Hello, sorry for delay, yes I'm talking about the back end, deleting form the management console. We have quite a few applications in our console, roughly 250. I am trying to delete the applications and then the packages. Works on new applications but not on one's that have been in there a while.

  • Hello,

Have you monitered what happens in the database and compare the result between an application which you can remove and one you can't?
