Activate Advanced Threat Analytics if bundled in EMS Plan RRS feed

  • Question

  • Where can I download ATA installer and how to activate it if I purchased it bundled with EMS. I read this article that it should be raised to Microsoft Support.

If you acquired an Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) license directly through the Microsoft 365 portal or through a Cloud Solution Partner License Model and you do not have access to ATA through the Microsoft Volume Licensing Center (VLSC), contact Microsoft Customer Support to obtain activation processing Advanced Threat Analytics.

    Thank you!

  • you can download the bits here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-microsoft-advanced-threat-analytics

And later activate it by calling support (as you mentioned) and getting a key which you can use to activate it.

  • Hello,

The following thread discussed the question about MATA licensing.

    Hope it can help.

    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Advanced-Threat/Licensing/m-p/44696

The following part is captured from the thread above.

The licensing requirment is to have a valid license for each human user in the active-directory domain that ATA is monitoring/protecting. If the organization have seperate domain for subset of the users, they can deploy ATA to only monitor those subset domains, however, from security point of view, this is not recommended as the recommended way is to deploy ATA on all domains in the forest.

There is an option to purchase standalone licsense for the delta of the users that does not have EMS and/or ECAL licsense.

    Best regards,

    Andy Liu

  • Hello,

To make the thread clear to read, I write a summary here:

    Issue Symptom:

Where can I download ATA installer and how to activate it if I purchased it bundled with EMS.

How about if we only purchased 50 EMS but the total users in our company is 100? How is the licensing here?

    Explanation:

you can download the bits here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-microsoft-advanced-threat-analytics

And later activate it by calling support (as you mentioned) and getting a key which you can use to activate it.
