  • Hi, Emi

This issue appear only in Word. Excel works fine. I removed Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote.

    I have custom keyboard layout.

This workaround from another post helped me:

    1. Go to your "~/Library/Keyboard Layouts" folder
    2. Find the custom keyboard layout file you want to continue using. It should end in ".bundle"
    3. Move it out of that folder to the desktop or another folder
    4. In its new location, CTRL-click on the file and choose "Show Package Contents"
    5. Find the file that ends in ".keylayout" in the folder that appears (most likely under "Contents/Resources"
    6. Make a copy of the file that ends in ".keylayout" and put it in your "Keyboard Layouts" folder from step 1
    7. Log out and log back in
    8. Add the custom keyboard layout in "Input Sources" tab of Keyboard System Preferences. (It will be listed under "Other")

  • Hi,

Did you get this issue only appear in Excel? Did Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote work fine?

We noticed that a lot of users cause the same problem after upgrading to 15.17.0.151206.

We have escalated this problem by our internal channel, and there was a MS engineer provide a method. You can try this method and refer to this reply of Matt Centurión [MS]:

As a workaround now, you can downgrade to 15.16... version of Office 2016 for MAC.

    Hope it's helpful.

  • We cannot easily downgrade Office to 15.16 because the 15.16 installer won't install or do anything after 15.17 is already installed.

  • OK so the solution to downgrade Office to 15.16 is to move all apps to trash first and then install the 15.16 update. Just in case anyone needs this.

  • I had problems with Office 2016 programs crashing on my Windows 2010 system.  Tried everything, even re-installing the software.  Crashes continued.  I found a thread that described a solution using Malwarebytes beta version of update 3.1.2 and it worked like a champion.  No more problems at all.

  • I had an easy fix. Download the office365 license removal from microsoft. Run it. Then word words. Then install license again. Problem is fixed.
