I need a new newlink.aspx file for my Sharepoint site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Apparently I wasn't supposed to edit the page using the SharePoint Designer (ahem, Microsoft?) but something like Visual Studio or Notepad. I can't seem to use either of the three tools mentioned to get it back to normal. For now, I cannot use the custom content type I had created after editing the newlink.aspx. I can still add and use the ones that come with it though.

Is it possible at all to get a new, functional newlink.aspx file from somewhere? Or does anyone know how I can fix it? Here is the error code that comes up when I try to use it:

"The file '/_layouts/_controltemplates/TopNavBar.ascx' does not exist."

I've tried adding the TagPrefix back to the page in several different ways. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Crazy. I figured it out. For some reason, there was an extra TagPrefix roaming elsewhere in the form code that I didn't even see and shouldn't have even been there. I removed it, and sure enough it worked like it was supposed to. Thanks for your response though, Kannan!
